As someone quite familiar with the history of major mathematical ideas, this was quite refreshing. But I would say that the first chapter was worth picking this book (admittedly at a /5. I am aware of only a few others: an introduction to Probability was reviewed here recently, and there are volumes on Statistics and Numbers.
